Our network

Our network

With over 70 bus routes and the 14km tram route, our network takes in Edinburgh's key business areas.

What's more, our entire network benefits from on board WiFi so you can stay connected on the move.

Timetables & frequency

Frequent reliable service, 7 days a week

We offer frequent reliable services, 24/7. Whether you are catching a flight, meeting a client, or simply commuting - let us get you where you need to be.

Ticket prices

We offer a range of tickets, including integrated options between tram and bus

Please note: tram tickets should be bought in advance to avoid the on board fare (£10). For more information on how to use the tram click here. Please ensure your ticket is valid for your journey - details of our Airport Fare Zone and City Fare Zone can be found here.

For information about our full range of tickets, including NIGHTticket, DAY&NIGHTticket and Concessions, please download our Ticketing options leaflet.

How to purchase tickets

A number of pre-paid options are also available.

Using m-tickets on your mobile

Use your smartphone to purchase tickets via our m-tickets app at a time convenient to you. When you're ready to travel, activate your ticket and either show it to your bus driver or to a Ticket Services Assistant when boarding a tram.

Ticket machines at tram stops

Buy your ticket up to 30 minutes before boarding from one of the Ticket Vending Machines at tram stops. Coins and cards are accepted. Please note: Ticket Vending Machines don't give change and a £3 minimum spend applies to card transactions.

Got a question?

How can we help?

What's the best option for occasional travel?
Try our hassle-free Citysmart card that you load with single journeys. Citysmart allows travel on bus and tram (excluding the Airport Zone) and is totally transferable. The card can be topped up on board a bus, in our Travelshops, or why not arrange for us to come to you with our pop-up travel shop? Go to our Get in touch section for more information.
Can we send visitors from overseas a ticket to get from the airport to our offices?
SOON - we are working on making this possible and are progressing options online and through our m-ticket app. Please bear with us and let us know via the Get in touch section, below if you would like to be notified when this option becomes available.
Can you provide specific, relevant timetables for our staff
YES - we can, but why not encourage your colleagues to download our Transport for Edinburgh app? It's easy to use and they can customise it with their regular journeys. It shows live departure times from favourite stops - perfect for when they can't afford to be late.
Do I need a different ticket to get to Edinburgh Airport?
If you're travelling on tram, please ensure your ticket is valid within the Airport Zone. When buying your Airlink ticket, explain you're travelling to the airport and you will be sold the right ticket. Please note: DAYtickets are not valid for travel between Ingliston Park & Ride and Edinburgh Airport on tram and not at all on Airlink.
Can our staff get in touch with you if they have more questions?
OF COURSE! We'd love to hear from you. Scroll down to the Get in touch section and we'll get back to you quickly.
Is Ridacard valid on Edinburgh Trams?
YES - Ridacard really is our best value option, valid on Edinburgh Trams and all Lothian Buses services including Airlink and NightBus.
Is Ridacard valid on Edinburgh Bus Tours?
NO - but if you think your colleagues would like to rediscover their city from the top deck we can offer your business a discount code for your intranet and/or staff newsletter. We're happy to make Edinburgh Bus Tours tickets available for a staff competition. Edinburgh Bus Tours makes for a great day out with the team and a superb way to show guests Scotland's celebrated capital - do get in touch if you'd like to hear more.

"We were delighted to welcome Transport for Edinburgh's promotional bus on campus during Fresher's Week. It gave our staff and students the chance to organise their travel without leaving campus. A great service with the Transport for Edinburgh team on hand to advise on services and ticketing."

"We were delighted at the support Transport for Edinburgh gave during our Green Travel Week by attending our Green Travel Fair with their pop-up shop. This gave Standard Life employees the chance to find out more about TfE's routes and ticketing options. TfE's pop-up shop is a hassle-free way of informing your team about environmentally friendly ways to get to and from work and meetings."
